Do You Have Fomo? Experience Beyond the Bias

That is just too much fashion. - ALT

Style savants gathered at the Three Top Lounge, a new addition to Chicago’s iconic Salt Shed building, on the First Sunday in May to experience Beyond the Bias: a fashion show.

Beyond the Bias was not a traditional fashion show. The title comes from the 2021 experimental documentary from the mind of Sal Yvat, the HSIC of Look Authority Studio. The medium is different, yet the intention is the same: to celebrate designers who approach fashion production with intention, distinction, and curiosity.

Inspired by the 2024 Met Gala theme: Sleeping Beauty, Reawakening Fashion, cyclical conversations about overconsumption, and the intimately crowded fashion shows of the pre-1980s, BTBII assembled elements of fashion performance, history, and movement to deliver an immersive, dynamic experience ascending past limited ideas of a “fashion show.”

An experience that can only be provided by Look Authority Studio.

Styling takes center stage at any Look Authority event, of course. Each look was wearable, styled to promote shopping “small,” cultivating personal style and playing with color, texture, and shape.

Each look featured garments from designers and shop owners who specialize in providing sustainable fashion products: Tecture/Alex Swain, Girl Goodies Vintage, Benjamin Oshana, Flowers From Home, Style House Tuesday, CQ, Delyse Official, Chaa Latte, Eugene Taylor Brand, The Black Dandelion, Adornment and Theory, Cloina Shop, Flee Mrkt, Production Mode, Malcolm Malik, and JellyNoJ.

More importantly, Beyond the Bias II celebrated artistry, craftsmanship, and community. Look Authority Studio’s mission is to create reimagined fashion experiences that provoke action and spark curiosity while providing a platform for future-thinking designers.
